Paris - My First Time

Owing to its location, Paris has a temperate, oceanic climate; it sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. Almost everyone taking a European vacation will decide on a short stay in Paris; most people quickly discover that a few days is not really enough.

It is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine; plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system; the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.

The Eiffel Tower at over 300 meters tall is a magnificent steel structure; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.

On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This is an 'up-market' area that attracts thousands of tourists each day; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.cheap replica watches, rolex replicas

The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; it contains almost a third of a million exhibits and is in fact one of the biggest art museums in the world. If you are an art lover then you could spend your whole short stay in Paris inside; with so many visitors (around eight million), sometimes it can be difficult seeing some of the famous works. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; in particular those obtained along the lanes that lead from it.

Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. A short stay in Paris will definitely be a busy one even if only a few sights are visited; anything else on your 'to see' list can wait for your next trip.
